There are several groups of workers covered by the Government employees union and I think there is about 4 different contracts that must be negotiated to end any potential disruptions to government services. One group has already settled, and 2 more are very close. News reports are not predicting a long dispute.
None of the workers in these groups are Immigration officers, however if the officers are on Canadian soil, they can be potentially ´stalled´ by rotational picketing. Overseas immigration officers are not going to be impacted by this situation because there is not likely a government electrician that is interested in going to the Consulate in London and setting up a picket line!
So, everyone... I hope my update will put your minds at ease just a little. I feel for many of you that are waiting and waiting and waiting to move forward with your future. I think you can be confident that this current situation is not going to make your situations any worse.
Good luck to all of you.
