| Subject: Permanent Residency Second Stage |

Hello, I am sponsoring my fiance for permanent residency and have a few questions. The first stage of the application has been approved in principle and we are getting ready to apply for an open work permit for her.
Questions:
1. Does anybody know how long the second stage of permanent residency takes?
2. Once she gets an open work permit can she have something that will allow her to leave and re-enter Canada? "Multiple Entry".
Any response would be greatly appreciated as well as any other tips or information that could be helpful to us.

you cant sponsor a fiance for permanent residency so I dont know how you got approved

1. Anywhere between 3 and 18 months (mine is currently at 5 months after initial approval). Depends on the background and no-one but the CSIS can say!
2. Don´t know, I don´t think so as my open work permit is marked ´not valid for re-entry´. If you left it would screw up the security checks and perhaps even the medical (mine has expired but as I haven´t left Canada I technically shouldn´t have picked up any illnesses from abroad which would invalidate the medical). Try calling CIC and let us know if they said you could have a multiple entry one.
