Subject: processing time paris office
I sponsored my spouse 2 years ago.
she did the medical visit 1 year ago.she received a letter from the paris office stating that everything is fine with the file..the only problem she didn´t receive a letter to take her visa yet.sponsoring a spouse should take 8 to 12 months in my case It took more than 24 months..
note: I filled the old application.
I am trying to contact the office in paris to find out what´s wrong, but without a success.
If you can help me with a way or another it will be great.
I don´t know what to do...

something does not seem right (in reply to: processing time paris office)
what does the CIC website say about the file status? I would be asking for the CAIPS notes to see where the problem might lie. It seems very odd that the file should be taking so long. Skilled workers are being processed out of Paris in about 13 months.

another suggestion (in reply to: processing time paris office)
contact your member of parliament and tell them your situation. Sometimes they can be helpful- after all that is what they are elected to do! I got some small answers through my MP that I could not get out of the embassy.

processing times (in reply to: processing time paris office)
CIC website says the following for completion times
30% -5 months
50% -7 months
70% - 9 months
80% - 11 months
I would think this means to the point where they request your passport. I am hopeful because my fiance is in this que:)

Paris looks after much of french speaking North Africa, and some western European countries. I think that is why the wait time is so short. Europeans are happy where they are and for the others, Canada is not a first choice. They would likely want to go to France, Germany or Italy first. Also, settlement funds for those countries is a big obstacle. Mexico has a similarly short wait time.

Paris office is NOT as fast as you might think .Average waiting time for skilled workers is between 24 and 36 months. For business class it´s even longer due to the fact that Paris was , pre ´03, one of the few centres who handled business class and because of that they still have a backlog.

where are you getting your information? My numbers are coming from the CIC website, and the actual application form from the embassy in Paris. Your numbers turn my life upside down!!!!

Hi Sharron,

It´s on the Paris site http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/canadaeuropa/france/visas/delais-en.asp
And people still get this timeline in their AO letter.

On the other hand, timelines on the CIC site are more recent and are cases allready processed.
I´m anticipating a timeline from 12 to 18 months, if it´s a " straightforward" file and if one´s always been resident in one and the same country.
Therefor I think the 24/36 months timeline could be exagerated on purpose, not to let people call every day.

http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/canadaeuropa/france/visas/kittqE.pdf page 35/36 plus the embassy performance review is showing similar timelines (in fact shorter) Canadian embassy staff in home country are also saying 11-12 months. We got our file number within 6 weeks of application, and a second letter requesting some updated documents about 2 weeks after that. I pray to God that I am right and you are wrong!!! I guess we will know when it happens.
