my guess is that Harper will keep his promise for a free vote on same sex marriage. He will do it during a minority government because it is certain to fail. It will be case closed and he will have done what the Conservative requested.

You can´t close a gate that you have already opened. Rest easy and be patient.

as for the rest of immigraton policy... don´t look for huge shifts in policy. The Conservative party does not have a big enough mandate to do anything drastic and immigration reform is way down the list of priorities. You might see some tweaking- but nothing drastic.

that said... BC news announced that there is such a shortage of skilled construction trades that industry is heading over to Europe waiving Work Permits around with the carrot of PR opportunities.

Situation is urgent and there is no time for CIC to do its thing.
