| Subject: urgent help ! visa permit refused... what next? |

Can someone please help us.....
I am originally from New Zealand, a New Zealand Citizen and have been living in Canada on a visitor permit for almost 2 years. I am engaged to a Canadian Citizen and am in the process of applying for permanent residency under the Spouse/Common Law Class in Canada. We have not sent off the Permanent Residency forms yet due to Fiancee´s divorce not completed yet. We were hoping to be married first before sending off the forms. So I applied for a visitor permit, which would have been my 6th one, and it was refused, so now I have to leave the country next week which is like in 5 days time. We need to know if someone has been in the same situation and if so, what did you do? Please reply ASAP. Thank you & God Bless.

There´s nothing you can do. If you don´t leave by the time stated, you risk a ban of x years (5? perhaps). Go back to New Zealand and wait until you get the paperwork and then reapply from there as it´s bound to be faster from there than within Canada. You can´t just leave and come back as they´ll think you´re working under the table so leave a large period of time before you come back to show you´re not illegally working or anything - preferrably have your PR before trying to enter again!
(By the way, a 2 year visitor visa?! I´m surprised you got that many renewals, impressive!)

Thank you for the reply. Not the news I wanted to hear though, but if that´s the only way to solve my problem, then so be it eh.
I didn´t get a 2 year visitor permit. What I meant was I applied every 6 months to renew my visitor permit which adds up to ´almost´ 2 years. Make sense now?

Why don´t you move to the US for a bit of a time? You should be able to live and work in the US for a few months since you are from NZ, can´t you? That way you are aleast in close proximity. Something to think about.

Thanks. We are going to do the right thing and that is for me to return to New Zealand. We have just booked my flight. From there I will file the PR application ASAP so I can return to Canada to be with my future husband.

Hey, yeah, I got you the first time, I meant that you were lucky it got extended so many times!
Anyway, wanted to wish you luck with your application because I know how hard immigration is (common-law or marriage route) and because New Zealand looks like a gorgeous place to live, albeit a bit far away!
