Sponsorhip of a Spouse (in reply to: Regarding spouse Sponcer)
There are 2 parts in the sponsorship of a spouse. Your wife in India has to complete her portion and forward the same to you and you have to compelte your portion of the forms and mail the whole package to CPC-Mississauga.

You need to be a Canadian resident or citizen, be reasonably employed and should have last Notice of Assessment for the msot recent taxation year (probably in your case 2005 if you are apply to sponsor your wife in 2006)

I am a professional Immigration consultant and transitional member of Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC.

There was an article in the Toronto Metro from an Immigration lawyer last monday.

He says that the one mistake people make is waiting until they ahve a good job before they sponsor their spouse.

He said you don´t even have to be working for you to sponsor your wife or husband.

When I sponsor my husband, I did not even provide them with a Notice of Assessment.

spouses are exempt from meeting the LICO (low income cutoff requirement) as long as your wife doesn´t have any dependents you don´t have to worry about how much you make. (or don´t make) to be able to be a sponsor.

and yes, you were correct in your process.

Sponsor my wife (in reply to: Regarding spouse Sponcer)
I just landed here in BC in May 2007 as a permanent resident, and now I want to get married in India and thereby sponsor her. She already has visitor visa, now which is more convenient and speedy process, bring here here and get married here and then sponsor or get married there in India, let her stay there and file immigration papers from here? Which takes less time and an easiest route to Canada, also do I need one year stay or income in order to sponsor her? Let me know. thanks,
Raj

sponsor my wife (in reply to: Regarding spouse Sponcer)
The easiest way for you is bring her here in tourist and get married so that u don´t have to convince them that this marriage is for Entry of canada, and also u will have provincial registry papers which will support for your Wife´s PR.

Prab, not sure if you know what your talking about. Getting married is commonly used as a method to obtain permanent entry. Tourist visas are temporary and provide zero status.

An out of Canada application takes half the time as an inland application. Not only that, there is no appeal option for inland when they decide that the marriage was for status not love.

Sharon, look at Raj´s case his spouse already got visitor´s visa, it´s my openion if my wife had visitor visa i wouldn´t left her there alone for the processing time. I am regreting now thinking that i should have applied her for visitor visa bring her here and apply from here so that we don´t have to miss everyday. it´s not easy to be apart, newly married husband and wife. Now i don´t want to apply visitor visa coz i have processing going on CPC. well that was just my openion and it´s not necessary that Raj should follow. and for kind information i am not giving raj wrong advice, it´s what i would do if my wife had tourist Visa.
