Ally, please go thru´ a few pages of postings in this forum, you will get a better idea abt processing times.
No one can give you exact times, think of it like, someone asks you a question "How many minutes do you exactly sleep every night ?" There can only be a range, right ?

I think people who have applied from London can give you the time range it takes.

sorry, there is no such thing as exact duration.

if you hang around immigration forums long enough you will discover that everything is about waiting. All we have to go by is historical statistics for each embassy. If there is a sudden increase in applications, then the wait gets extended.

If you have not completed your documents correctly and you must resubmit an item... the wait is extended. if you do not do your IELTS... your wait is extended. Background checkes are required to complete the process and how long those take depends on the co-operation of your home country and the countries where you have resided.

10 people will start out of the CIC gate on the same day. It is a guarantee that there is no way to predict how long each will take and who will finish first or last. Every application is different.

So, if someone is offering you a guarantee for approval - they are misleading you. All they can give you is approximates.

What people have told you is totaly true. You might want to check out http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times-int/02a-skilled-fed.html to see how long the current processing times are and keep looking at it to see if they change (they´ll keep going up...). 14 months is out of the question, I would say, unless you have a job offer which means you would have to have some fantastic skill that no Canadian has.

It usually takes about 2 years through London office. But, as other said, it can vary from case to case.

Todays minimum processing time is 39 months (london) dont expect anything before this time. you never know in few years it might increase to 5-6years.
Nobody knows how CIC works, do they really have any end point for background check or it goes forever if they dont get response from other authorities. In some places, just to get you passport stamped visa takes 5 months to 1 year. There is no hard and fast rule my guess is it all depends on the mood of visa officer.
