Subject: Status on Jan 2004 Apps
  Hello everyone:

Here is my timeline for Buffalo, USA app:

Sent Papers to the Lawyer : Jan 2, 2004
They submitted : Jan 15, 2004
AOR Recieved : Feb 6, 2004
Medical Requested with other Docs: Oct 16, 2004

(CIC web-site still shows in-process; maybe the DB needs an update or they follow the same through until decicion is made - i.e. after medicals etc. I´m not sure on that).

Anyways, the fears of backlog etc. are unwarranted. Things are moving as they should - appox 9 months for the medical request. If you have not recieved the medical or interview request; you will be getting so in due time.

Good Luck to all of you in process - and many thanks, I have been following this forum very closely.

Take Care,

Hi Indigshai,

I am too in the same situation like you. I did my application through consultants. Sent it to consultants on Jan 1st week. They sent it to CIC who sent me letter of acknowledgment and file no in Feb 1st week. Sent IELTS results in May 2004 and now i am waiting to hear about medicals, interview etc. The e-client application status says file has been in process since Jan 31,2004. Is that how they normally do it or they dont update it on time. Please advice.

Disclaimer:

The post is merely for information only, please remember that application review process is a subjective process and even though cases may have been filed at a time together, it may vary when one hears back. My post of dates have two purposes: (a) give an idea of what to expect on Jan 2004 filed case, and (b) dismiss some of the rumors on this web-site about cases getting back-logged at CIC.

Now coming back to the specific questions directed at me:

Well I guess it must be a case by case specific. For e.g. on review of my case; my lawyer never asked me to take the IELTS. I had been advised by others to take it no matter what as I was told it will be required, but then I decided to just go upon advice of my lawyers and I have not been asked to submit any scores.

I know of another colleague who applied (on his own) and around the same time with almost similar situation got a letter a month earlier, but informing requirement of an interview.

As I said before and as per my information; things are moving as they should. CIC has done a good job in spite of all strike issue and all at moving things as they should and we should leave the rumors aside and follow the facts. So if your letter has not come, it will in due process - is all I can say. Again I must exempt myself from any specific quotes as these are subjective situations and a lot may depend on who has been assigned your file etc. But in all fairness; citrus paribus - 9 month is a good benchmark time frame to hear back for Buffalo apps.

Reg. W-2: Well if you have been employed and filed taxes in the US then you´d know. If you are not in the US, it really does not concern your case. My post is merely info for all who filed at the Buffalo - USA post in and around Jan 2004.

Thanks

Hi Indigshai,

Thank you very much for the information. However, could you please explain what they mean by " Home Country Record". What kinds of documents would suffice?

Regards

Hi Indigshai,

Did they ask you to pay ROLF as well? If so, did they give a deadline date or you can pay it anytime u want before landing in canada. Please confirm. Thanks.

Home Country Certificate (in reply to: Status on Jan 2004 Apps)
Home country certificate is equivalent of FBI clearance for your home country.

No, they have not asked me to submit the ROLF as of now; for now I have to submit medicals and other docs. I presume that shall follow once I have submitted the asked docs.

If any other info is needed please let me know. Only thing I shall recommend to anyone waiting to hear from CIC (about 7th month from the initial application date) is to go ahead and get their FBI and Home Country clearance as almost 99% these are needed and getting my FBI clearance took me about 12 weeks and this is the time CIC gives to submit all docs. Just to avoid cutting it too short I mean. Since the FBI clearance is valid for 6 month you are hence covered this way.
