Hi, What I have learnt from a source is that the quota is good enough only util march - april, this is because of the back log cases, after this only exceptions will be handled.
in 2004 quota expired in oct-nov
in 2005 quota expired in may-june
in 2006 quota is expected to expire in march april.

Some other facts :

1. US has increased the green card processing timings and conditions,so the noumber of applications for canadian PR has increased
2. US applicants are given priority over canadian applicants becuase most of them land and go back this doesnot add any additional burden on canadian ecomnomy and give them good revenues.

let us all hope for best.....

Is writing IELTS mandatory?? (in reply to: Buffalo has any annual quota)
Hi everyone,

My timeline (Skilled Worker, Buffalo) is
Applied Mid March, 2005
AOR. 31th March, 2005

still waiting.. IA or Transfer letter

Now I´m in Canada as a graduate student and I did NOT write IELTS (but I attached a claim letter for my English ability including TOEFL score, English course Passing documents, and reference letter from my supervisor, etc.).
As well I did NOT get any IELTS request from Buffalo office.
(I´m not sure because I had moved once during this period.)

What do you thinking about it? It will affect any delay or decision making? Otherwise I just need to wait until my order. Feel scaring nowadays...

I wish everyone´s Good Luck!!

Thanks,

Aspirant,

I am very keen to know the basis of point # 2.

I am sorry, but I very strongly differ. Is this what YOU think or you have any source of info. to base on. And when you say good revenues, what revenues are we talking about here - the processing fees? If there are 200000 landings per year and each landing is earning them 2000$ in revenue that amounts to 400 million canadian dollars. What about the expenses they occur in terms of maintaining processing centers, doing background checks, reviewing medical information and creating settlement centers across Canada.

Referring http://www.fin.gc.ca/taxdollar/where_e.html:

"In 2003?04, Canada´s federal government collected about $186 billion in taxes and other revenues."

Now, 1 billion = 1000 million dollars.

Do you think this immigration is **source of revenue**, a business avenue for Canadian Government.

And if you think that people from US considering canada as a backup option, come, land and go back and deposit all their money in Canadian banks, than you are gravely mistaken. People who land in canada with the intent of returning to the US, simply take their cashier´s check back, get them cancelled and maintain status quo on their bank accounts in the US.

I agree with PPRwait.

the Landing fee is but a small amount; what really helps Canada is immigrants living and working in Canada and contributing in tax pool and general economic growth.

A US applicant who merely lands and goes back makes no real contribution to Canadian economy.

And I´m not so sure about the Quota theory as well. Applicants got PPRs well through December 2005. If there was a Quota; then applicants would not get call to submit Passports in Dec 2004.

Anyways, lets hope for best for all of us!

There was a quota in 2005. I got caught in it. A few people with special circumstances still got ppr´s, but the rest of us waited until the first days of 2006 to get our pprs. Just search "early 2006 club" for more information.

People waiting for pprs in 2006 should be aware that the same thing could happen again.

It is not scaremongering, just reality.

Hello Guys,

I didnot want to disappoint anyone, I am also in the same boat, and I also wish for myself and for everyone that things should go smooth.
I just thought what i know should be shared if someone ask for it.

Tim/Aspirant,

I do not deny the presence of a quota or a cap if you may call it that way. I havent heard of any "specific" numbers advertised as it is with the US H1B. Maybe CIC draws a line in terms of the processing load or a year-ending time-frame.

I am from the very same Early 2006 club. My AOR is Nov. 30, 2004 and I received my PPR on Jan 5, 2006.
