Subject: Police certificate
I am an Indian citizen living in US for last 6 years. My AOR is OCT ´05. I sent FBI certificate from US. Do I need to send Police Certificate from India also. What are the possibilities of asking Police Certificate from India also? If it´s required, can I get it now and send them before they ask?

Please advise.

Regards,
Kiran

Hi Kiran,

Yes, CIC will eventually request your PCC from India. It is better if you get it done now and send it to them. The more complete the information packet from your side, the more efficient your application processing will be. Secondly, given the fact that your AOR is Oct. 2005, if you have not already furnished proof of English Proficiency, this is a very good time to go for your IELTS and send them the results.

I have learnt that it is always a great idea to be proactive and send CIC the information needed to help them make a decision, rather than to wait for some correspondence from them and then respond.

As for your Indian PCC, you can apply for the same at the nearest Indian consulate. Give yourself a timeframe of 45 days end-to-end for the Indian PCC.

Thank you for your advise. I will get it done as soon as I can. I did my IELTS.

Nothing mentioned in my AOR regarding time line.

BTW Kiran,

You can go to an Indian consulate personally and get the Police Certificate. That can cut your time to obtain these. If you go personally, it takes only 10 days.

Hi,

Did anyone get the finger print in New York recently? I need to get the US Police clearence and to get it I need to forward the finger print to FBI. But in New York area all the local police station are refusing to do the finger print for canada immigration. Did anyone faced the same problem? Do anyone know the place from where I can get my finger print done in New York? I will really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks
