My application was done as in-land so they do not send an AOR. It was a same-sex sponsorship. The timeline is listed above. You get the AIP - than they do the background check - than the PPR

thanks. mine is inland, too. sponsored spouse. my question was: if they don´t send you an aor, how can you know your file number? you need it in order to check the status. I paid my fees online so I don´t have a number. after how many days from application date were you able to check the online status?

I already had a client ID number from my work and study visas. If you have had any immigration document - your client ID number does not change

Mircea - for the xth time, you don´t get AOR with inland applications! The first communication you get is AIP in 7 months. You can call the CIC centre or see if your client number is on your printed fees receipt.

just for your information, in land applicants will receive AOR only when their case has been transfered to the local office. This is when you might be called for an interview.
