Subject: need help-- police clearence
  HI ALL,
Is police clearence required for people living in Canada. I am a student and my husband is working as a dependent. I have heard it takes 4-6 weeks for RCMP clearence. Is it true that people who sent their police clearence with their applications for PR or after they have applied (in the interim period before a decision is made) have a better chance at being selected for interview waivers and faster processing. Is this true? What should I do please advise
regards,
Chandi

Hi there,

If u r planning to apply in Buffalo n u´ll remain in Canada, then u don´t have to submit RCMP now. If u read the guidelines carefully, it does say not to request for RCMP clearance until u receive further instructions. Buffalo will ask u for it on ur IA if interview is waived. If u submit RCMP with ur application, u´ll only have to re-submit it after successful interview waiver or after successful interview.

Cheers

better to apply for police certificates around the 6th month from your reciept of AOR; it is taking about 9 months appox for IA. The certificates from FBI is taking about 3 months at least.

do all police clearance around the 6th month of filed date. IAs are taking appox 9 mnths from Buffalo - and police certificates are taking about 2-3 months. In US you can obtain police certificate for India by contacting the local Indian Consulate. You need to do the following:

1. Fill out a Misc Services form (Check and download from Indian Embassay WebSite in Washington)
2. Attatch your recent Photo
3. Send your original Passport (No copies allowed).
4. Send a MO for USD 20/- in favor of Indian High Commission
5. Send a Detail Info on where they have to send back the passport and certificate also tell them you need for Immigration Purposes only.

If the passport is issued abroad you get it in 2-3 weeks; else may take 2-3 months since they have to verify from India.
