Hi, I have applied for Canadian immigration in early 2005 and my file got transferred to Detroit recently (3 weeks back)
I have new born to be added to my application (waiting for the passport and got yesterday)
I filed throug attonrey before and he is demanding $250 USD for sending my new born child application now.
Can I do it all by myself? - if so - What for and procedures I need to follow. Please give me the details - Waiting for my IA at the earliest.

Yes u can do it yourself.......make a copy of her passport, original birth certificate (get some extra copies from City), 4 photographs and write a letter to Detroit visa officer that you want to add a new child. Dont forget to mention your file no. and complete name of your kid . As soon as they receive the documents they wills send u the medical forms. I did the same way.....i am sharing my experience ...its not just an information its my personal experience because my lawyer was also asking 200 dollars to add child.

Don´t forget to include application fee for your child, I believe it is USD$150.
As far as I remember that was what I paid when I added my child in my application and it did make my application process longer :(

Dear Shashi,
I did the same on my own, so please follow the following procedure,
1. Copy the child´s passport,
2. If you have an ID for the child copy that too ,
3. Please download the second page of the application kit (where you should have typed -whether you had any dependants to be added in your application)
4.Pay the application fee for your child which is 150 CAD
5. Write a cover letter telling that you have a new born and want to add him in your application sign that ...
6. Send all the documents to CIC...
PS> Tell your lawyer " Hey WHy dont you send such files to me I can do that for you for 160 CAD)

your lawyer wants more money to add a child?!?!?
that is ugly man!
my friend used canada4u.info and never paid a dime more than the required fees and their professional fee!!! not for fedex, not for adding his twins, not for nothing!
they even filled out the forms for him!
I am outraged.

Is it required to send documents of newborn to CIC or need to send docs to the visa office where the application is being processed?
