I posted here to share my experience (alternative way to check your status without AOR) with my friends.
Actually, I have not received my File# yet until now (maybe lost?), but I have checked my status is in processed. How? Using your Client #, which can be found in your Study permit or Work Permit. .(ONLY useful to person holding validate Study permit or Work Permit in Canada)
Timeline:
send - August, 2004
AOR - October, 2004

Hi, Dude, just wondering i applied at the same time as yours, in 2nd Aug in a skilled worker class, Haven´t got anything else than my Acknowledgement Reciept.
Please let me know whats going on with your case, I think we are in same pool..
