If I have 78 points WITHOUT French (but have written a letter in French claiming moderate French profiency based on an "A" in the London Advanced Level exam, but haven´t done TEF), what are the chances I will be asked to take TEF, as I would qualify anyway?

They will only ask you to prove it if you have claimed points for it. Since you haven´t, you won´t be asked to take it.

If you want further points, you´ll have to take the TEF - no other exam will suffice, but I wouldn´t bother if I had 78!

Btw, anything more than the minimum 67 marks doesn´t do anything to speed up your application process. Anyone above that mark is treated equally; so taking the French test will do nothing for you.

thanks for the replies. I HAVE claimed French proficiency (Even though I don´t need the points to make 67) and was wondering if they will make me do the TEF even though I have enough points anyway, even if they give me 0 for French.

the advantage you can get from high points is only if CIC raise the pass mark, or some of your points were not awarded for a reason or another so you can have a (back up)
