Hello,
My common-law wife (who i recently sponsored for PR in Canada) just received Approval in Principal. Her E-case status was changed to AIP.
We were informed by the call center that the next step is background checks.
I was wondering if anyone knows typically how long the background checks usually take?

we sent the applications in may of 2005, they started processing in july. we just received AIP in January. we were also informed that the background checks commenced in december.

is it ok if you share why you think your background check takes that unusually long, I mean did you live in more than 2 countries in the past or you lived most of your life in a country that has a very diffrent writing?

Still waiting... no-one can help, not even an MP or organisation. You have to sit and wait it out and not leave the country. How ridiculous!

i lived in three countries before. it might be reason for them to undertake such a long background check. i never lived in any muslim country those.
