Subject: Canadian Immigration Category information!
  Hi,
I am in the process of looking into canadian immigration as a skilled worker. I´m currently working in u.s. as a software engr and want to apply for canadian imm.
I want to apply without any attorney assistance.
Can anyone please tell me as to what is the main diff b/w the three categories, and which one should I apply as.
1. For federally skilled workers
2. For provincial nominee
3. For quebec skilled workers
If anyone can provide some info towards this or some useful link, i would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Start looking into the website www.cic.gc.ca and also look into the Buffalo consulate site and look into immigration section...

That has to be your bible...

To give a heads up...

Federal skill level is basically unrestricted category. Need 67 points to immigrate to Canada... you can work anywhere in Canada.

Provincial Nominee is where you fill an application with the province; the province approves it and you have to stay in the province atleast for 1 year and work in that area... The time duration may vary please check with the respective province. Look under the Provinces´s website for more info.

Quebec Skilled worker program is for a person interested in settling to Quebec. Quebec has always potraied itself a bit different from the rest of Canada... The basic idea is that you ahve to settle in Quebec for atleast 1 or 2 year. check their website.

Thats where you start...
So good luck...
