Subject: Regarding TEF exam
I had applied for Skilled worker class.I received request for IELTS and TEF in the month of November from Canadian Immigration. For TEF i had claimed Basis points since i had taken some basic classes.
I already took IELTS exam and have sent them the results. Today i received a letter from CIC which mentions that "We are still pending receipt of TEF results". I am not in a position to take TEF exam since i dont have that much proficieny in French. What should i do now. Do i need to write a letter and send to CIC. Can anyone help me in my siatuation what exactly i should do. If i need to write a letter what should i mention in the letter.
I will really appreciate your help and suggestion.
Thanks in advance

Hi Sara,
I took TEF recently, and I didn´t have much knowledge either but I prepared for awhile and scored pretty decently.
It´s hard to say what you should do because you didn´t explain whether you need French points badly or not. If you need them badly, study and take the test. Otherwise, it would probably be good if you wrote that you can´t write the test for some reason...and point out that you don´t need those points anyways.
good luck

you will be faced with having CIC assign you points for french that you cannot dispute. That is the purpose of the TEF exam - points are decided on an independant test score rather than the mood of the immigration officer.

Hopefully, you do not need the points to maintain the basic 67.

If you do not want to delay your application, write a letter stating that you are willing to have CIC assign you points for french and they should not wait for test results. - That´s what I would do. If you need those points - well... I would get studying and get that test written.

regarding TEF points (in reply to: Regarding TEF exam)
respected sir/madam

I just want to confirm that if some one get between 121--180 in CE, 145--216 in CO and 97--144 in LS, how much points one can get as these points come under the Intermedaire section(under 3) and one get the 2 points for CE and 2 points for CO if one score between 181--232 for CE and 217--279 for CO (under 4 in the Intermedaire). As they both come under the same section, so points would be the same or not. I am going to appear for the exam on 15th april, can you reply as soon as possible , before my exam.

Thanking you

TEF exam (in reply to: Regarding TEF exam)
Hi Sara,
I agree with you,Just make sure your total point score is 67,this means u don´t need the TEF french points.you can write a letter in this sense to CIC..
if u need some points....Just try it to do it...by the way
there are two grade:TEF OBLIGATOIRE & TEF FACULTATIFE.
you can take the "OBLIGATOIRE" which is not that big issue...it very simple..
for the calculation of the point:I think the average should be from (4-6)based on CLS(canadian languistic standard)which has 12 grades (6/12)is the average, but i think with ILETS, 4 will be enough.
good luck for all
