Subject: PPR after more than 1 year from medicals
I just wonder, what happens if PPR is received after more than one year since the medical exam. I bet there are many applicants out there from "Early 2006" club, whose medicals will or soon will expire.

CIC can extend the validity of your medicals if you contact them.

If you are not notified about going for another medical test, it could be assumed that the validity is extended. I got passport request 13 months after medicals and the expiry date of visa is set to 16 months after medicals. I finished the landing process this weekend. So it should be fine.

I was on work permit in canada. It is mandatory that you complete the process at a port of entry. I called the cic call center last week and they mentioned that airports and harbors could be used as ports of entry only if you are coming by air or ferry respectively. So for in canada applicants, the only option is by land on a border crossing with the US. You could choose one that is the closest. The process is very simple. First go to the canadian immigration office on the port of entry. They would verify all the documents and send you to the US side. The US immigration would give you a slip that mentions refused entry. Then come back to the canadian immigration and the process would be over in 5 min. The cic call center would be able to give you numbers for closest port of entry. You could call them and ask for what documents to bring. I called the port of entry and they mentioned that only passport and confirmation of permanent residence are needed. I brought my bank statement, but it was not needed for the process, but you may never know!. Good luck.
