Subject: Sharon or anybody please help---TEF exam
This is in regards to TEF exam.I was requested to take TEF exam but since i dont have that much proficiency to clear the exam i am not in position right now to take up the exam.
So i am wriitng a letter to Immigration explaining my situation.
Can anyone throw light if the contents of the letter looks ok.

Dear Sir/Madam,

With reference to your letter dated on 7 March 2006 requesting for TEF Result. I am Sara File # ........ I would like to inform you that I have basic knowledge of French. I took short term course to learn French. I already submitted my certificate of short term course as a proof of proficiency to communicate in French. Unfortunately I am not at that level to pass the TEF examination at this moment.

Please consider my level in French language as a Basic level.

Thanks for looking into this matter.

the way you are wording the letter, you may risk even losing your basic level because you are claiming you have lost much of what you know from your classes.

You don´t pass or fail the TEF, you simply measure your proficiency level in French. If you decide to take the test, just look out for the each questions and ignore the others.

If you do not want to take the test... just advise that you are electing not to take the test and will accept the points with CIC assigns you for second language based on your submitted documents and that they should proceed without waiting for TEF scores.

Question is...can you live with 0 points for a second language - that is the risk you are taking. You have claimed a level of proficiency that you have not be able to validate - hence the test.

You could always take the test and not submit it. If there is enough points to claim basic proficiency - then send it. If not... take your chance that CIC will give the points to you anyway (I have my doubts)
