Subject: PR working in Hong Kong
  Hi all,

I´m landing this December in Canada to apply for my PR card. However, I was recently asked by my company to work in our head office in Hong Kong. Since there are no job openings in our branch in Toronto and Vancouver, I have taken the HK offer (and told them that I eventually STILL would like to settle in Canada). Am I right in saying that I have to accumulate a total of 730 days in a span of five years to comply with residency obligations? I plan to stay in HK for 2.5 years and then go back to Canada. Unless rules change, I still am within the allowed limit. Pls. advise.

Also, Can I cross to the US border (NY) and come back to Toronto without having my PR card yet? Can I get a temporary pass? I am a holder of a US visa (multiple entry).

Thank so much for your time.
