Hi everyone. My wife (Canadian Citizen)and I (American Citizen) were married in October. We want to live in Canada. In 2003 I was convicted of a DWI. I paid the fine and it was done with. I know all about being inadmissibe and the 5 years for rehabilitation. We went to the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo and spoke to an officer who said to try to get the Temproary Resident Permit. She said that becasue we were married in Canada we have some leverage. Also, there are much better services in Canada for our son who is nine months and has Down Syndrome. I was wondering if anyone knows how likelu they are to grant the temproary resident permit for us to go to Canada. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

(in reply to: temproary resident permit) Only the officer dealing with your case can tell you, as we obviously don`t know the statistics on how many are granted and how many rejected due to DWI. Are you inadmissible for permanent residency? If not, why don´t you stay in the US and apply from there? Shouldn´t take that long. Sorry can´t be of further help.
