Subject: Would this count against me? (or anyone else)
My SW application is somewhere in the piles of Buffalo, waiting for IA. (AOR May 2005) I am in the process of getting a new job, and I´m a bit nervous about getting a letter of employment from my new employer so soon, especially since it could be a long time before I´m anywhere near allowed to move to Canada. The original application materials mentioned that if I couldn´t provide a letter from my current employer, to write myself and explain the situation.

Has anyone had any experience in this area? Would writing to explain that I am concerned about keeping my new job end up working against me?

Thanks!

hi Asha,
You can ask your employer(new) to give a letter stating that you have started to work in their concern at such and such position with your reponsiblity and salary. You can ask them to address it to "whomever it may concern". i guess this should not be a big problem.

Asha,

if u issues getting the letter, just produce your salary slips . They just want to know if you have really worked with company u are claiming to have worked with. Take it easy.

Thanks!

Employers generally provide such letters letters on a regular basis so I dont think it should be a problem. If you dont want to bother your manager just ask the HR department and they´ll be sure to provide you with one. Thats part of their job.

Most employers often provide such letters for various reasons (banks might request one if you´re looking for a mortgage). So don´t be afraid. It´s a common phenomenon.
