Subject: Has anyone actually sponsored on a very low income
I am still struggling with this i know it says no min income for spouses but my Husbands income is only around $6,000 a year. I am on an Australian Disability pension and togehter it is about $15,000. I was wondering if anyone has been in my same situation or knows anyone who has. We live fine have no problems buying food paying bills and we get no social assistance.

Would appreciate any one with any knowledge commenting.

Thanks

Hi butterfly.
I understand your situation. Iam going to sponsor my spouse soon and iam just a graduate student with an annual income of around 20,000 $/year minus my tuition ($ 6000 a year). From what i heard from CIC personally and my friends is that, you can sponsor your spouse even with low income, but make sure you have a minimum bank balance savings of $ 10,000 somehow.
The whole idea here is that CIC wants to make sure that the new immigrant/citizen who is in canada does not depend on social assistance from CIC, once the spouse comes in.I hope this helps.
Input from other knowledgeble persons would be appreciated, to help this person out.
Thank you.

Consulate is not preventing your wife for immigration because of your low income, only during case processing & port of entry you have to show the availability of sufficient fund as stipulated.

my Husband is sponsoring me I have a disability pension from Australia he is on CPP his is about $6,000 a year and with mine we are about $15,000 a year. On his form I was going to include my pension income as other sources of income for him because together we do not rely on Social assistance and live fine. Without me he would be on social assistance. I am wondering if my pension will be acknowledged with his Cpp as income for him to sponsor me and would love to hear from anyone in similar circumstances or who know more than I do.
thanks

Ok I phoned them and they said to include my pension income as other sources of income. They said that any information about our situation is helpful.

I would still love to hear from anyone else who was in a similar situation and if it was successful or not.

I´m wondering where you got the figure of $10,000 in the bank account for spouses sponsoring. I´ve only heard that in relation to people coming in on work immigration. Could someone clarify? Why would they say that income isn´t considered, and then say, "Oh, but you should have $10,000 in the bank"?

I do not know where the $10,000 came from maybe thta is for people visiting it is not a requirement that I can see for spousal sponsorship and I am already in Canada.
