Subject: CIC-Buffalo is Nasty
  Hi:

CIC Buffalo is killing me, I sent them my first application with all documents the first time on Aug 27th, they returned the application to me saying, I should give them a written explanation of my proficiency in English Language (well I had sent them a typed copy so was my fault), Then I prepared a written letter and again mailed them all the docs on Sep 18th. They have returned it again to me for the second time and this time they say I have to fill out all blank fields in application with a N/A or NONE and its a must (thats all the reason they had to return it). And that too they have returned it after a month and a half, its October 26th today. So my documents are 4 months old now. SO please tell me if its ok if my documents are 4 months old. I am sending them all the same old documents again. I hope it wont be rejected again saying you´re documents are 4 months old. I am also enclosing paystubs(incl. most recent ones) for last 1 and a half years. Please advise me. Thanks.

If you are serious; I suggest you hire a para-legal or a lawyer to file on your behalf. It is obvious that you are not able to file it correctly. CIC are right in their decision to send back not completely filled out applications. I´m sorry to say and don´t wish to sound critical; but this is an issue of immigration and should be treated seriously while filing. Believe me it is an additional 1200-1500 dollars but you´ll have a professional do thw way it is required.

I have never heard CIC return documents when all are complete - your judgement of them is not fair.

by the rules (in reply to: CIC-Buffalo is Nasty)
I know a guy that sent his application in without proof of settlement funds. He thought he would tell them he was a nice guy and they would overlook the fact that he had failed to comply with CIC requirements. He was annoyed at CIC for sending back his appllication. duhhhhh. Read your application. There is even a document that tells you how to fill it out. They give you a checklist to make sure you do not miss anything. They say specifically in the instructions not to leave anything blank and they tell you what to do. It is the biggest document of your life, so treat it accordingly.

old documents (in reply to: CIC-Buffalo is Nasty)
I´m no expert but I think so, based on my experience. It took me (us) a long time to get everything together to apply. I think some of the letters from my previous employers were 8 months old by the time we sent the application in. By the way, I also typed my statement of language proficieny (both English and French).

I applied in August. I got my AOR a couple of weeks ago. So apparently, CIC did not reject my application due to the age of the documents. I would be careful though. The proof of funds, I am guessing, should be current. (Mine was current as of the day I sent in the application) And the instructions also specifically state police certificates must not be more than a certain number of months old (I don´t remember now)

I think in your case the above advice is good. Hire a consultant or attorney to prepare your application for you.

Age of Docs (in reply to: CIC-Buffalo is Nasty)
Ideally documents need to be current - however 6 months is a usual figure everywhere. In anycase CIC will ask you to resubmit some or all of documents again after IA stage. So while it is OK to use 4 month old documents right now; you may require to procure newer ones (after the date) CIC requests again. Hope it helps.

Mine was also typed (in reply to: CIC-Buffalo is Nasty)
Hi,
I just want to say that I applied in Nov.2003 and my English Prficiency letter was also typed and signed by me and they never questioned it. So I am skeptical that they returned your application just because the letter was not hand written and it was typed. There might be some other reasons as well.
I think in your case, hiring a Pro sounds a very good idea.

Cheers,
Looka
