Subject: IA + Clearance questions
  Hello All,

Finally I got my IA. (AOR Mar 05). Inteview is waived. :-)

They are asking for verification letter from my current employer and FBI and Indian Police clearance certificates.

1. My employer sure will not give one if I site this reason. Any one faced with a similar situation, what did you do?
2. Where do I get the Indian police clearance certificate and what are the normal bribe levels for the same?
3. How can I get the FBI clearance certificate, since I am outside US - In India currently?

Cheers,

I thought you were supposed to send ´letter from your employer´ when you submitted your application and if you cannot you were supposed to enclose an explanation?

Anyways, I sent a short note to explain that I could not submit ´letter from employer" for my partner as it would jeopardize her position in the company.

Then I was working for a different company and they used to issue verification letters for ´whom so ever concerned´. So it was okay. In my present company, they will issue to specific bodies/persons only.

how do you know that interview is waived? how do you know that what you have received is an IA (is it clearly stated to be so)?

Heffner, the package he received is called an IA. It includes things like your medicals, tells you about your interview waiver, asks for employer letters, bank statements, police clearance certificates, etc.

1. If you employer can´t give the verification letter for this reason, tell him/her that you need the letter for applying some loans, buying homes etc.

2. Do you come back to US? If so, you can get the Indian PCC from any Indian Consulate in USA (if you are in USA) and they charge you about $20 (USD) + mailing charges. I got in the same way. No bribes, but if you want to get from India, it depends upon your state and police officers.
