Subject: Medicals
What is the cost of medicals in the US?

Can you pay cash/credit or have to get a bankers draft done for that?

How long does it take?

Do you need to fix up an appointment well in advance?

Does it matter if some members of the family take medicals at a different place in the US or the entire family has to appear at the same place?

I´m sorry it may sound trivial - but I stay at a place which does not list in the Medicals Facilities listed by CIC. I may have to drive about 7-8 hours to the closest place?

Thanks to provide input.

Call up a few Designated Medical Practitioners listed on CIC website that are closest to you and ask them:

1) What is the cost of medicals? As this varies from place to place.
2) Can you pay cash/credit or have to get a bankers draft done for that? As it depends on the policy of DMP.
3) How long does it take? Again depends
4) Do you need to fix up an appointment well in advance?

It is better that the whole family get the medical done from the same place as this will ensure that all the medicals are sent together but it does not matter if some members of the family take medicals at a different place in the US.

cost of medicals (in reply to: Medicals)
I inquired in the Washington/Virginia area it is $346
$300 medical and $46 for chest X-ray......I am assuming rates are the same everywhere but that may or may not be true.

Medical Rates : call them up and check out (in reply to: Medicals)
Medical rates are actually different everywhere , different with doctors in one area and then may siginificanly change for different geographical areas. SF Bay area is costly like hell..you can get away with half of the money in LA....San Diego is also better ..but not as good as LA....I do not know about other states..but definitely..get a list from their website....call listed doctor´s office in ur area, take their rates, enter it into one excel sheet..and then decide....rate for medical examination of a child is far less ( just 1/4th or so) than an adult...
