Subject: what will happen if medical exam expired?
Hello, everyone, have a question here for you, would be highly appreciated if anyone could kindly provide any info for my case.

My medical exam will expire end of April 2006. What should i do if still no info from Immigration? will they require me to do medical exam 2nd time?

I applied for Independent Immigration from Canada, submitted docs to Buffalo, and my timeline is as follows:

Aug,2004: submitted application
Oct,2004: got file no.
Apr,2005: be notified of interview waiver, medical exam, and submit supplemental docs
May,2005: submitted all required docs and medical result
Oct,2005: be advised that they´re still waiting for one of my docs (actually, i submitted in May of 2005 already), letter stamped with word "Final"
Nov,2005: submitted doc required 2nd time by express

However, till now, no any info from Immigration.

Does anyone have similar experience with me? How long should i still wait for it?

really frustrated, such waiting is a kind of torture.

I would apply for CAIPS to find out some sort of status.
Medicals expire after one year, usually. Look at: http://www.canada-city.ca/canada-immigration/posting.php?messageid=1321

for more information on that.

Sometimes, immigration offices extend your medicals for another 3 months.

Hi there Anxious,

We had to do the medical a second time as ours was expired. We did our first in May 2004, and had to do it yet again this year.
We called for a status first, and it was then that they informed us that the medical had expired and to wait until they´d given us the forms again to take to the DMP. (and don´t forget the additional pictures)
We are now waiting and waiting for the medical to be reviewed. It´s a shame that some times things take so long, due to their lack of communication that until you do make inquiries, you don´t even know what they´re waiting for. We waited months and months before someone finally faxed us and told us they were waiting for FBI results for adult children I was not even sponsoring.
My advice is to fax them an inquiry about the status of your file, then do it every other day or so, changing the date on the original paper to reflect the new date, until they respond.
It´s the not knowing that is hard, and many times unless you take action, you will continue to wait for something you don´t even know you have to do. They will tell you if you need to do the new medical, and who knows, yours may be almost finished and a medical might not even be warranted.

Good luck,

waiting and waiting

CAIPS is a form of electronic communication to find out your status. You can apply for that using website http://www.caips.ca
