Subject: Applyin for PR
  Hi

I intend to apply for Canada´s PR. I am currently in Delhi. I read a couple of discussions on the net and got to know that the gestation time can be as long as 57 months and that the Canada processing from Delhi is slower.

Whats the best way to get it done faster. Is there some way I can get it in 1 year or so. I am ready to apply from Europe if that can be helpful since I will be in UK for 6 months in time to come. ppllllzzz suggest...

Puneet

Hi Puneet,

Yes it does take a very long time to get PR if you apply from India. I dont think you can do anything to process your application faster as every file gets in queue. The only thing you can do is to make the application as accurate as possible and back up the information provided in the application with conclusive proof. This way you will not be called for an interview and you application will be processed faster than someone who has been called for an interview.

You can only apply from a country in Europe if you have been admitted in the country for more than a year. For example if you have a visitor visa of UK for 2 years but at the time you enter the immigration officer gives you max 6 months to stay in UK you can not file your application from UK.

If you are seriously thinking about immigrating to Canada please take IELTS as it is the only sure shot way you can get max points in English.

Puneet:

I´m afraid - CIC rules clearly state that the country where you file should be the country of your domocile, i.e. you must have stayed there for a period of AT LEAST 1Yr. So you are in your right to file from UK if you can show you are living in the UK for a period of 1 Yr.

Moreover; if you visit the place just to file docs then you may have to return for a possible interview.

Keep all these points in mind - if you are moving to UK then it is different, but still the 1 Yr rule applies.

Sorry! You are mistaken my Anonymous friend. The CIC rule clearly states that an applicant has to be "admitted" in the country for more than a year NOT "stayed" there for a period of AT LEAST 1Yr.

Applicants for Permanent Residence
You must apply in your country of residence or country of nationality.

If you have been "legally admitted" for at least one year to, or are a citizen of, one of the following countries, provinces or territories, you must apply at the corresponding Canadian Visa Office.
