Hi my question is if I have chosen French as my second language (even though I dont know anything of french), could I just say I have basic proficiency in French in all sections like reading, writing, speaking and listening? And also do we have to write a written statement in French itself or is this written language proficiency only required for the first official language?..thanks

your have answered your own question. you have said you have NO french skills. By the grid, that is worth zero. Don´t mess with the facts, it will put your entire application in question.
