Subject: Reopen a closed file !!
  hi all
hope you guys are doing great. Here is a time-line list of events:
1) Applied for Skilled labor category in end of 2003 from US.
2) Had to leave the US same year back home due to emergency.
3) File created in mid of 2004
4) Office requested additional documents to be submitted by 2005
5) Couldnt submit due to my absence in US
6) File closed/rejected due to lack of documents in mid of 2005
7) Back in US in 2006.
8) Would like to re-open the file.

Question:
1) Will it be considered a new application or the same one just updated?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

once the file is closed, you must start again.

Is it the same case if the application is ´rejected´?

that is one reason it is imperative that CIC always has your current address. If they ask for documents, they give you a time limit to respond. If you don´t get the request, or do not reply in the time given - they have the option to close the file. It sounds harsh but they must get hundreds of abandoned applications and they simply do not have time to chase 1 million applicants annually (that is the number I saw somewhere).

So, (as my guy learned the hard way) make sure you get your mail and make sure you send stuff as they request.

Sharon,

do you know the approximate processing time of the buffalo center for us-based applicants for permanent residence?

thanks for your time.
