Subject: Skill worker application questions
  1) Can both I and my spouse apply for Canadian Permanent resident seperately as principal applicant and include each other as dependent intending to accompany to Canada (Both of us are Skilled worker)?

2) As dependent, after landing, can I live outside Canada for more than 3 years when my spouse (the principal applicant) stay in Canada? In this case, can my spouse obtain canadian citizenship after 3 years? If so, after she become a canadian citizen, can she apply citizenship for me or she only can apply permanent resident for me? Will my previous loss of permanent residency record affect my family based application.

Thanks in advance

No. You have to decide between each other who scores more points and that person will be the principal applicant.

No. When you land in Canada and become PR its your responsibility to maintain the PR i.e. stay in Canada for 2 years out of a total of 5 years. It does not matter if your spouse stays in Canada.

In this case, can my spouse obtain canadian citizenship after 3 years?
Yes. If your spouse meets the crieteria of obtaining citizenship she can get it.

If so, after she become a canadian citizen, can she apply citizenship for me or she only can apply permanent resident for me? Will my previous loss of permanent residency record affect my family based application.

Your spouse can not apply for your citizenship as you have to be PR before becoming citizen.

Assuming that you lost your PR but your wife is in Canada she can sponsor you for PR. BUT your file will be checked thoroughly for your intent to stay in Canada as you have already not stayed in Canada when you got the chance.

SUGGESTION: If you are not planning to stay in Canada and feel that you will not be able to maintain your PR let your wife apply for immigration and mention that you will not be immigrating with her right now. This way you will be the dependent on her application so she can sponsor you later on when you finally decide to live in Canada
