Subject: Soon Landed - Tax Question
I´ve been in Canada for 2 years under work permit. And recently I got my PPR. So my question is, how would I do my tax file next year? Should I do as two people since I would have two SIN numbers. Or I can do it as one person. What will happen with my RRSP credit then?

here is my time line
Application Jul 04
AOR Mar 05
IA Nov 05
Med Dec 05
PPR Mar 06

thx,
IndonesianGuy

hey, that´s my question too, however, did you get your new SIN? You might wanna ask HRDC people there, they might transfer your 9 start SIN information to the new one.
That´s just my assumption

I haven´t got my new SIN yet, because I am unsure if I can have my RRSP credit. Well anyway I will ask people from HRDC and CRA and see what they have to say. Will let you know Departure Bay

Thx From the Coldest North,

exactly, I have my RRSP hold in mutual fund too, and all sort of EI, CPP stuff. My employer continues to contribute group RRSP to me too. However, I have 9 sin too. I am still waiting for my IA.
Let me know the answer.

Hey, once you got PR visa, you can go apply new SIN, you don´t have to wait until after landing

I have just called to 1-800-267-5177, they told me as soon as I got my new SIN I can call them and asked them to merge the account. So that is pretty simple.

thanx for the info about getting new SIN

I am at my latest 20s. So it just kick in :). A lot of my co-workers don´t have RRSP, but they are having morgage. So i guess it is either RRSP or house. Since I haven´t settled down i guess RRSP is my only option. Anyway hope you get your IA soon.
What´s your timeline anyway? I thought people with work permit is on fastlane or am I wrong?
