hi!
i´m a canadian citizen residing outside canada. i want to move back to canada in the next year or so and would like to bring my fiance with me. do you have to be a canadian citizen at the same time a resident, to sposor a spouse? or is it ok to sponsor if u are a citizen currently living outside canada?

(in reply to: citizenship and/or resident) As a Canadian citizen you can sponsor your spouse irrespective of your location. If you are getting married I suggest you sponsor your spouse as soon as you get married. The whole process takes a couple of months depending on your spouse´s country of residence. You can check the approx. time on the CIC website www.cic.gc.ca
