| Subject: settlement funds - landing ??? |

For settlement funds, do I need to take money order/travellers cheque or can I take a bank statement and say that I will electronically transfer the funds once I have a bank account open in canada, the reason I ask is I am not going to move in the immediate time frame, so why take the money right now ?

Are you required to show the necessary settlement funds when landing in Canada? Say, a family of 5 is required to have settlement funds of CAD 21,431 - must I bring this amount (whether in check or cash) during my landing in Canada? What would happen if the amount you brought when landing in Canada is less than the settlement funds?
Your clarification on this matter will be highly appreciated.
