| Subject: how long to receive caips notes |
Could somebody tell me, very PRECISELY, how many days it took them before receiving their caips notes. I asked for them October 20.
I would realy appreciate this information.

I mailed in my request on October 1st.... and still waiting. I would assume that they are facing severe backlog caused by strike. Looks like it is going to be a while...

CAIPS notes are not required for your immigration. What they are is a set of notations made by CIC about your file. If you are asked for an interview, the notes could help you understand their concerns and perhaps be better prepared with your answers. If the file is progressing normally, CAIPS notes do not really change much. They just offer you some additional information that does not appear on the e-client listing. A Canadian must apply for the information, and you can expect to wait 3-4 weeks for the information to arrive.

Well I recently got my CAIPS notes. Applied end of August and got them in the first week of October.
The CAIPS notes have been helpful as I have been called for an interview and from the notes I have come to know why.

These notes are just indicative of what may be asked; however not limited to. Officer at duty as a right to insure all docs and info provided are correct - so make sure on that ground. Carry all docs submitted and any additional you may be collected after.
If you have a long line of education or work or have move countries - precisely go over the details again and again so that you are speaking the same that you submit (I don´t mean to accuse anyone - but someone may get nervous).
Whereas most cases go fine - about 10-15% may need further verification or documents subject to requirements of the officer on duty.
