Subject: Medical Exam Expiration
Any ideas how long it takes for Medical Results to expire. I applied for skill worker and did my medical exam in May 2004.
When one gets the initial permanent resident visa, how long does it take before it expires.
Thanks for any help,

Jeremy

Medical Exams generally expire after 1 year. Visa offices have the ability to extend the validity of medical exam results by another 6 months under certain circumstances.

As for permanent residence visas, I believe they expire when you medical exam results expire. However I may very well be wrong about this because I have also heard that once you recieve your permanent residence visa you have 1 year to "land" in Canada.

Hi Jeremy,

Your medicals are valid till May 2005 like Mel very accurately explained.

The visa is valid till the medicals are valid. Therefore if and when you are granted PR visa it will be valid till May 2005.

In certain cases if the visa is issued very close to the expiry of the medicals they generally extend the visa by a couple of months as it is impractical to ask someone to land in Canada in a couple of weeks and then immigration officials understand that. But such decisions are taken an a case to case basis and it is upto the discretion of the immigration official

It´s like clock work my friend. This is what is an appox.

9-10 months through your IA you should recieve Interview waiver or an interview call.

Process Interview if asked for (+3-4 months)

If interview waiver then they send you medicals and additional docs request.

(You submit all in +2 months the medicals and +3 months other docs)

If you submit ROLF you get PP request in +2 to +3 months
else a request for ROLF

So there is no two ways about how it works; unless a chance case.

So technically your visa of 1 year is valid for less 3 months(9 months). You must enter Canada in 9 months from visa stamp as it would be about 3 months you took your medicals.

The idea of this exercise is to look at Statistical significance (avg. number cases) lets not pull out hairs and worry on that 1-2 outliers (chance cases). Lets keep forum more objective.

I am not trying to scare anyone here. I am just trying to provide every possible detail.

You will agree with me that every case is unique and so there is no way we can estimate how long it may take. For instance you said "So technically your visa of 1 year is valid for less 3 months(9 months)". Now if our friend Jeremy is issued a visa today he will get 6 months to land in Canada not the average you mentioned. As every case is so different an average is of no use. I have seen too many people being dissapointed by the average numbers.

One more thing you are way off the numbers for people who get interview. If you are called for interview it adds at least 9 to 12 months.

waiting times (in reply to: Medical Exam Expiration)
every embassy has a different processing time. It is impossible to compare notes from one embassy to another because in some cases, total processing takes up to 4 years, others only 13 months. we should all be responsible to look at the documents that come with our application that indicate general timelines for our own specific embassy. Otherwise, we get people worried or excited for nothing.

I am in USA. I applied for PR. I am visiting India next month. Is it possible to do Medical exams from India(with listed doctors on canada site)?

Because fees for Medical exams in US around $250-$400 and in india it is around Rs 1100 to 1500 only.

Please post your views

Med Exams results (in reply to: Medical Exam Expiration)
What to do if i had already undergone my medical exams in Qatar last January 31, 2009 but my application at Canadian Embassy-Abu Dhabi was refused due to my expired LMO. I refiled my application last May 12, 2009 at Canadian Embassy-Manila and was advised to undergo medical examination again with a 6 months validity of my extended new LMO until October 17, 2009. I sent email to Canadian Embassy-Abu Dhabi to forward my medical results to Canadian Embassy-Manila and they responded that I had no more active application with them and if i have any request, I should contact Canadian Embassy Manila, so I sent them email but no response received after waiting for 28 days standard time as per their confirmation email. I went to DMP at St Lukes Medical Center here in Manila but they told me that my medical exams is still valid...I am afraid because I may not be getting another new extended Labor Market opinion from Service Canada. Does all Canadian Embassy Offices has database to track on Medical Results of an Applicants? Your advise or views regarding my case would be appreciated. Thank you

Felipe
