Subject: Visting US with a Canadian Student Visa? |

I am currently in Russia awaiting a visa number to immigrate to the US, however that´s not going to happen for a few years and I am planning to go to Canada and get some kind of a degree in Economics or maybe Pharmacy. I know this is a long shot.. but since I have family that lives in the US would I have the ability to enter the US on a Canadian Student Visa for very short term stays?
Thanks in advance for any help.

(in reply to: Visting US with a Canadian Student Visa?) You´ll be able to enter the US, but you will need to get a tourist/ visitor visa here in Canada at a US consulate prior to going down to the states. They have consulates in every major city here. I have a buddy from Serbia, also on a student visa, who´s been down to the states several times with his American girlfriend, and I think it costs $100 for the visa, but he hasn´t had any problems going down there for visits.

(in reply to: Visting US with a Canadian Student Visa?) Well, as far as I know I am not eligible for any kind of a temporary visa due to my filing for permanent immigration. Thank you for the reply though.
