  Not sure if it´s useful, I still wanna share it.I got most of my reply from email, even though most of them are standard, there are couple of answers are important.

usually it takes about 2--3 business day to reply email.
Make sure you send in their business hours. (8--4 ET)

Email inqury must be simple and no long pages please, consider they check at least 300+ those kind of email everyday.
However you have to include some of your information.

Example of email:


To Whom It May Concern:

I request the status of my application since it has been processing for more than 16 month after applied and 12 month after file number day. Please let me know if I need take any further steps.

Thank you very much.

File Number:
E-client status: We started processing your application on Category: Federal Skilled Worker Program
Name of Principal Applicant: Last Name: First Name:
Date of Birth of Principal Applicant:

I guess they have to reply you if you provide your canadian address, they might not wanna share personal information outside Canada according to privacy law. However, you guys still can try.

The fast way to find out your status is still CAIPS from your regional CIC headquarter. It only takes about 1 and half week for my case. I wrote to Privacy Coordinator in my region.
No need to write to Ottawa, it takes more than 1 month.

That´s good info!

Also, is the link you are referring to for contacting regional privacy coordinator the following - if so, i assume i would contact the one for Mississauga Case Processing (as it states immigration related matters there) or would i contact the Ontario one ?

if i´m in Vancouver, where should I send the request for CAIPS? I have sent an email to them and was told to send it to Ottawa, ON. So which is which?
