You may need a valid Passport to travel to Canada, if you hold a green card you don´t need a visitors visa.
Sometimes people are admited into Canada without a Passport only showing their green card and another piece of ID such as Social Security and a driver´s license.
I would recommend you to travel with a Passport though.
