| Subject: Background Check in CAIPS |

Hi all,
I looked for Background check results in my CAIPS notes, received yesterday. It appears as: BDEC 21-07-2005. So, it seems thatdecision is made but there is no code after the word "BDEC" in order for me to see what is the decision (1: paased 2:omitted 3:incomplete 4:failed).
Have they erased the code intentionally or there is a mistake?
Here is my timeline:
APP Jan 2005
AOR Mar 2005
XFER to Seattle: Feb 2006
IA: Feb 2006
MED and DOCs: Mar 2006

It just means that your background check was started on that date. It is not complete yet. When it is complete, there will be a 1 beside the date.

I actually have a question. I received my CAIPS a few days ago too (ordred it from Toronto). Where does it say BDEC? Is it on the second page?
All I have is
Security decision 1 Date: 08/03/2005
Do you have a security decision anywhere on your CAIPS?
Trying to figure out why I dont have a BDEC anywhere. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

candice, when did they start the security check? I want to know how long it took. Also, do you have a decision for criminal check? I think for criminal check they use the police certificates.

Thanks Candice but why didn´t they write 0 as they did for my MED Decision which means it is still in process?
As for the location of BDEC, it actually appears on all pages wherever other Case Status information like PSDEC, SELDEC, MEDDEC, .... are written. For your information my BDEC date (21-07-2005) is the same date as Security Decision at Immigration Assessment Record Summary section of the CAIPS. So, I assume BDEC and Sequrity Decision should be the same.

One more thing,
there is a statement says: "B CHK FOR PI & SP RECD. ... 21-JUL-2005". So, doesn´t it mean that it´s completed?

Mircea: My security check was started on March 8, 2005 around the time of my AOR
AB: I think my CAIPS is just different from everybody else´s. I don´t even have CRIM anywhere. This is what my Caips says on the second page under "Immigrant Assessment (T13)"
PS Decision: 1 Date: 19/11/2004
Selection Decision: 4 Date: 29/03/2006
Security Decision: 1 Date 08/03/2005
Medical Decision: 0
Other Requirements Decision: 0
Final Disposition: 0
Thanks AB on the information regarding the similarities of Security decision and BDEC. I would imagine so as well since the officer´s notes appear to indicate that my application is complete except for medical results.
I´m not sure about your last post regarding B CHK FOR PI & SP RECD. ... 21-JUL-2005. Could it mean that your police ceritifcates were received? I have an entry that says "RCVD: RCMP PRNT CHK."
From your timeline it seems odd that they would have finished background check by July. I do know for sure that the date beside BDEC refers to the date when your background check begins. If there is no number beside it means it is still pending.

Oh and one more thing. I believe it is fairly normal not to have a number beside your BDEC if the background check is still in process. I´ve seen it in several cases. Don´t worry, it will all be over soon.
