Why would some of us be waiting for IA longer than others? Could it be background checking to verify history, employment, etc? I noticed people straight out of school tend to get IAs faster than older people with longer work histories. This is why I think it takes longer if you have a longer employment history. They want to verify the entire thread.

depends on where you are applying from and which category you are applying under ..

for outside spousal sponsorships, most people tend to receive their initial approval (IA) letters within 4 to 6 weeks .. has nothing to do with employment in this case..

In my case applying from U.S. as U.S. citizen under SW. Nothing especially complicated other than extensive employment history. And waiting 14 months for IA since AOR. How to explain that other than checking employment references?

I don´t know what you menat by 4-6 weeks for IA. Nobody´s getting IA in that short of a time after AOR.

huge differences in process between skilled worker applications and spousal sponsorships. Not even possible to compare the two

I see. I didn´t intend to compare SW with Spousal Sponsorship as that´s really apples and oranges. The point is that SW applicants relatively new out of school with seemingly short employment history seem to receive IA on much faster basis.

I got my CAIPs and found out that they havent done my IA even though it has been 11 months since I submitted my application.

The CAIPS says that they are going to do PPS(which I think means paper screening) in July, 06 (13 months after app was submitted)!!!
