My husband has to do the same thing from Australia. What we did is we went through a third party. He had his fingerprints completed here in Canada, and then contacted the police where he lived in Australia, and has to send them there along with payment. He emailed first to make sure they would accept it.

If you were in the London area, you would need to apply to the Metropolitan Police Service - here is the direct link:

My husband had to do the same thing and he had already left London. He had to mail in a bank draft for the equivalent of 10 pounds (as per the instructions) and send two pieces of ID. See the instructions on the form. It´s easy and reliable - you just have to wait.
