Hi Guys,
We (Me and my wife) are thinking abt a cruise to Halifax from New york, but we have our PR processing in process. Now, I think I have to apply for the tourist visa for that as we will disembark at the port for a day.
Do you guys think its a good idea to apply for the tourist visa during PR process ? Will it have any effect on the actual PR process ? If no, then do you think we have a good chance to obtain the visa ?

I don´t think there is a problem in obtaining a visit visa. We also have applied from Dubai for PR thru London. Last week, I applied for the visit visa in Abu Dhabi and got the visa. We are planning to go on vacation for 3 weeks to Toronto. In visit visa application form there is a column asking whether have you applied for any other visa to canada (like PR, Work, Student), say Yes and mention your file number in the respective column.

It maybe a better idea not to show up in canada as tourist. You never know, you may not feel too excited to immigrate once you discover that it is a mundane country with people thinking about food, health and bills.... Save the surprises for the last.

The country I am coming from is next door to Canada and is the King of the Planet, unlike you who thinks you are a subject of a long since dead empire. So you are the one who needs a reality check! and have your head examined. At least down South, they have a system they built with fierce commitment to their own freedom and have their own heroes. Who is your hero? Is it the queen of some other country on the otherside of Atlantic? It is out of their pity that you got your freedom... not because you know what freedom means nor because you somehow feel its need. Now zip that fouth mouth, mister.
