Subject: Q about IA waiting after got reply from buffalo
I sent an enquiry by email to re-buffalo-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca , and then I got such a responding from buffalo as below. As I am expecting my file will be transferred to somewhere else other than buffalo (my case is more than 11 months now), their reply is kind of a surprise to me. Any body under the similar situation? It looks like that I am already in the queue for IA, and won´t be transferred out, is my understanding right?

Buffalo replies:

"The status of your file is that it has been placed in a queue awaiting the initial (paperscreening) assessment. All applications are processed according to the date on which they are received. (PAPERSCREENING IS CURRENTLY TAKING APPROXIMATELY 52 WEEKS)

Once your file has been paperscreened, you will automatically receive additional information and instructions . At that time, you may also receive medical forms with instructions. Until you have received the results of the initial (paperscreening) assessment we cannot respond to further status checks. "

Thank you very much for your reading, and pls give me any opinion on it!

V you should know that that is a standard response these days. I got my AOR Mar 29, 2005 and received my IA on Mar 27, 2006. It takes about 12 months to get your IA, so be patient and email them once you have reached the 1 year mark from your AOR date.

It is possible they may keep your file in Buffalo but there is nothing in their message that indicates this.

It took me 2 days, I sent it out on Monday after worktime of Buffalo, and got it back today (Wednesday).

I sent enquiries to them before by email, but never had anything back. So you might wait long enough then send email to them, say around 1 year mark.

Thank you very much for both ´anonymous´ replies. I will wait patiently (no choice to me). But they also didn´t mention anything that my file will be transferred out, that´s what I am curious about. Did somebody else get similar reply while keeping their files processed in Buffalo afterwards or still have their files out to Detroit or Seattle?

Thank you again.

The date on my FN paper can be traced back to a bit more than 11 months but less than 1 year from now.

That is the standard reply and the chances are your files will be ultimately transferred to another consulate prior to getting the IA, since that seems to be the current procedure.

don´t worry, i have MARCH 09, 2005 AOR here, Buffalo.

14 month after AOR, still no IA!!!!!

full time work in Canada, post graduated work permit.

somehow my timeline is even worse than people neither have job offer in Canada or currently work in Canada
