Subject: police records check - sent to me
I´m making this enquiry on behalf of my girlfriend. She applied for PR in the fall of 2001 and a police records check for Canada was rewuested in August 2003. Everything else has been done, IE medical, proof of funds etc etc. So, this week an original of her fingerprints/criminal record by the RCMP arrived in our mail box. Should this not have been sent to Buffalo directly by the RCMP? There was no accmpanying letter. Just the fingerprints on a form and a statement saying that she has no criminal record in Canada. We have been unable to get through to the information line. So do we send the finger prints to Buffalo or what?

Thanks for your reply.

Graham

Forwarding documents (in reply to: police records check - sent to me)
Hi Graham.

Yes, this document should be forwarded to the Canadian authorities. As always, be sure to include a cover letter with your file details.

Question: When CIC requested your girlfriend´s PC is Aug 2003, didn´t they place a 90 day deadline on their request? If so, did you request an extension?

Sincerely,

Dennis Caul

police certificate (in reply to: police records check - sent to me)
Thanks for your reply. After spending several days trying to get through on an information line an Immigration officer also stated yes, just forward the document to Buffalo with a cover letter. To answer your question, a ninety day time limit was put on but an extension was not requested because we were under the impression that the police certificate would be forwarded by the RCMP.In other words, we were un-aware that there was a delay. So my question now is: do we need to worry, do we need to do something more?

Thanks Graham
