Finally, a decision was made. I suppose (and hope) it will be a positive one. Needless to say that I am now a happy husband.

Here is my timeline

22 July application for spons. sent to Mississaugua
22 August sponsorship approved
1 September file opened in Beijing
6 September letter sent to my wife requesting a few documents + Quebec Selection Certificate + notarized photocopies of MY passport + HER passport
10 September documents received from Quebec Govern. for the Quebec Selection Certificate
4 October Quebec Selection Certificate issued (it was longer than usual because I made a mistake)

In the meantime, the e-client says "in process". Nothing about the medicals even if it was sent with the application.

26 October, the e-client says medical received and decision made. A letter will be sent ...

I hope it is a positive one.

So it means that everything has been done within 2 months. On internet, it says that 30% of the sponsored case are done in 2 months.

My file was very well prepared. We put everything that we could think of. Everything we said in the application was proved without any doubt. And of course, absolutely everything was true.

I want to thank all of you who posted information in this forum. It helped me very much to stay optimistic during this process. Finally, we are like a family trying to help and reassure each other.

I asked for the caips notes on October 20. I will inform you when I will receive them so that you can know how long it takes. I will do the same for the letter from the Embassy.

If anybody need any information, I will gladly answer you. I will read the postings for about a month.

Good luck to all of you.

Congratulations (in reply to: decision made, spons. Beijing)
I am so happy to hear that everything is going well. A few more steps and all the agony will be over. You have encouraged me. It sounds like you did everything right.
You are living proof that if we do our very best with our applications, CIC is fair and anxious to give us positive results in a reasonable amount of time.

I hope and pray your settlement in Quebec will be smooth. Do not be discouraged by the cold weather and the politics! I am sure it will be a shock the first year. It will turn warm soon and besides... warm hearts is all your need, and you already have that.

All the very best to you.

Hey there,
I am SO HAPPY for you. I wish you best of luck. Finally, a good news on this forum. I hope it will not take any longer then a few weeks before you wife is here.
thanks for the updated time line.
In my case it is taking longer.... as I have been approved by Mississauga on the 20th of July, and my e-client still says "in the process", I don´t even know if they received his medical or not. well, I guess I have to wait just a little longer :-) But I am very optimistic after hearing your good news.
Cheers,
Romashka

Dear Ha Ma,

I am a Canadian citizen by birth. However, I am almost 99% sure that you can sponsor your wife/husband the moment you are a permanent resident.

So you can prepare everything and the day you arrive, you can send everything to CIC Mississaugua. If you are the wife or husband, you even don´t need to have a job (I am a university student) though if you have little money, it won´t hurt.

Once you are approved by Mississaugua, here what happens:

1. the application of your spouse is sent at the foreign embassy where it will be processed

2. AT THE SAME TIME, Mississaugua will sent the sponsorship for Quebec. It seems that it is automatically accepted. And at the foreign embassy, they will begin processing the application WHILE in Quebec they will be processing the sponsorship. It takes about 3 weeksin Quebec. Then Quebec send the Quebec Certificate Selection to the embassy.

When you will be in Quebec as a Canadian resident, your sponsor does not need any money and does not need to say a word in French (as is my wife).

I hope these information will help you. Good luck.

Hi there,

Just an update of what´s happenning with our application since last I posted... Nothing. They got all the documents they´ve requested plus the passport. Although 80% of applicants get the decisions in 4 months, I don´t see any changes in the e-cas, and no response from the embassy.

I searched this forum and I see you were looking into ordering CAIPS notes last year. Did you get them and how helpful were they if you did get them?

Lighthouse Family,
Still a worried husband
