Subject: PARENTS SPONSORSHIP, pakistan
I have sponsored my parents from Islamabad, Pakistan. The visa office started processing application in the month of May of 2002. My parents had an interview in April of 2005. Since then we have not heard any thing. What you guys think. Its almost 4 years. Anyone knows what are processing times for Pakistan. I have filled my petition with www.sponsoryourparents.ca. Any information or suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Processing Times (in reply to: PARENTS SPONSORSHIP, pakistan)
Islamabad is 27-36 months. When did Mississauga CPC send yuour file to Pakistan. Where you approved in May 2002 or did you submit then?

How old are your parents? Has their health decreased or has your income decreased?

Contacting a member of Parliament will get a response that the file is in process or its complicated. Now if it is getting close to another election they will get you an answer very quick but now asking one of them is nothing more then a waste of your time.

Denise Codere former minister of CIC decreased parental sponsorships and following Ministers of CIC have decreased them time and again. Then they increase them and say look we care. That is like increasing a car price to 80,000 from 40,000 then reducing it to 70,000 and calling it a sale.

Read the Manuals it will explain how to complain properly. Overseas processing 1

Thanks folks,

CIC Mississiauga approved the file in March of 2002. The visa office in Islamabad, Pakistan started processing the file in May 2002.

My parents are currently 58 to 64 years old. Thats what bothering me as they are healthy so far but if this case dragged then they might have problems during medical process. My income has increase almost five times since I applied to CIC so I believe there is no income issue.

My parents have two dependents with them. One was 17 years and the other was just over 22 years. Both are full time students and are still studying as full time officer.

During the interview, the visa officer told my parents that he will issue visas to both parents and the youngest brother. But for the oldest one he required more documents and proof of studies. He had some objections that we cleared out through my lawyer. Most recently they asked for more documents and we sent those documents but since Ocober 2005 we have not heard from them. It looks that he is reluctant to issue medicals just because of the oldest brother. We have a genuine case. The oldest brother is still a full time student and all the documents are there to proove the dependecy clause and full time student clause.

Since October 2005, I have spoken to visa office in Islamabad numerous times. They always tell me that the file is still with visa officer and has not been reviewed yet. I also sent some faxes to get some info as to why the file is not moving further. I have not got any response to my faxes.

I have also sent a fax to federal minister of Immigration, Mr. Monte Solberg. I have not heard any thing from that office yet. Some one told me that citizenship office in Ottawa has more pull to find out whats happening with file and if necessary they can ask the visa office in islamabad to expedite the case. Thats what I heard and thats why I sent the fax to Mr. Soleberg.

I really donot know what else to do. My parents are getting old and both their dependents will be finishing their education later this year. I might have to keep them in school to satisfy the dependency clauss and full time student criterion.

I donot know what to do. I am at the point that I donot want to drop the name of the oldest dependent as I think the case is getting closer to be finalized. At the same time the clock is ticking.

Please advise with your comments and thoughts. Thank you very much all.

Parents Sponsorship (in reply to: PARENTS SPONSORSHIP, pakistan)
Hello there. I am in exactly the same situation you are in right now. I tried everything: MPs, petitions to the House of Commons... Nothing helped. So, I hired a lawyer and we are suing immigration. My process was escalated just by filing the case to court. Please e-mail me at vitalina@ofro.ca or vitalinke@hotmail.com.

Hi Vitalinke......I am not sure how your process got escalated by filling the case in the court. Can you share your time line and when and where you applied. Also, if you could let me know how many dependents were there in your application and how old. Thanks for sharing info.
