Subject: EXPERT ADVICE PLEASE!
OK guys, have planned to go the way, so many of u have taken. Going solo, with no lawyer. Have been thru all the forms, and a lot of info I could get on the web. Now am hoping to get some
answers from u. Do hope u can help.

1) According to the Indian schooling system, would it be safe to say the no. of years of formal education would be - 15 years (10+2+3) (for someone who has completed their BA)?

2) In the Additional Family Info form, it asks for the name in English and native language, in the e.g. it doesn´t mention Hindi, only Arabic, Chinese, Korean. Does it still mean one needs to write their name in Hindi??

3) In Schedule 3 Economic Classes form, Question #5 asks for ur first official Language and ur second official language. There are just 2 choices, English or French. I am from India (Mumbai). So would I tick English as first or second official language? Also since there are only 2 language options, does one need to leave one of the options blank, or make a separate note stating the second language as Hindi??

4) My husband has more than 10 years work experience. But about 4 years ago, he switched his stream. Same industry, but different department. The occupation he is currently in, is mentioned on the NOC list. Is it ok that he shows the experience (contracts/references) for only those 3-4 years, or are the rest equally important and reqd by CIC?

5) Do these reference letters of present and past employers have to be sent in original?

6) Some say get all ur copies of documents (such as degree, transcripts) notarized, some say you don´t need to. So which one is it? Should we or not?

I know, many questions. But this is just the beginning. Am going to come back with more....if need be. Hope u can help.

Thanks again.

Hi Samina

Please refer my answers to your questions. Other forum members may add something to it.

1) According to the Indian schooling system, would it be safe to say the no. of years of formal education would be - 15 years (10+2+3) (for someone who has completed their BA)?

Ans: Yes it is OK to put 15 years of education for BA degree.

2) In the Additional Family Info form, it asks for the name in English and native language, in the e.g. it doesn?t mention Hindi, only Arabic, Chinese, Korean. Does it still mean one needs to write their name in Hindi??

Ans: Yes. You can mention names in your native language. HINDI is fine. I put in GUJARATI. No problem.

Ans: There are two official languages in Canada. English and French. This has nothing to do with knowledge of foreign languages. Your points will be counted on the basis of your knowledge about Canadian official languages. If you have NO knowledge about French (READ, WRITE, SPEAK) your points towards knowlede of French will be ZERO.

Ans: You can start with the most recent one. If you find 4 yrs of experience in the NOC list why don´t you find remaining 6 yrs of experience in the list. Please check NOC list once again and look for the most closest one which matches with your husband´s exp.

5) Do these reference letters of present and past employers have to be sent in original?

Yes: NO. Copies would be fine.

6) Some say get all ur copies of documents (such as degree, transcripts) notarized, some say you don?t need to. So which one is it? Should we or not?

Ans: Better to be notarized. I sent all copies notarized. And if you are going to notarized your Transscripts better to notarized Reference letters too(Question # 5). There is no harm in doing so.

Hope this will help.

Nanu

Thanks nanu, it does help. Only thing, the official language question is still unclear. Cuz there are 2 parts in that question (in the application form) one asks about ur knowledge of the 2 languages, which is fine, but before that it asks for ur first official language and second official language, but only options given are french and english. So dunno what to say there!!

I thinks Nanu has done a good job in anwering your questions. Just to make it more clear.

5) Copies are ok.

6) If you can get them notorized it is ok, if not it will be fine too.

offical language : For you first is enlish seond is french, you will not get any points for french though.

Which post are you applying at ?

Brian
