I am leaving next week to USA for a meeting. I have sent my passport to Bufalo on april 30 and arrived at their office after a week. I emailed CIC-Bufalo today and waiting for their response. What else should i do to get my passport soon?

(in reply to: worring) I have a similar case. Shipped passport (overnight) to NY this monday. I need it back for next week. I emailed them as well but no replies yet.
On NY web site, it says, bring it on a Thursday morning and get it back in the afternoon same day. But, the letter I received says leave it on a Thursday morning and get it back on thursday the week after. So, they used to stamp the visas in 5-6 hours. Now, they do it in a week. Normally, they should be able to stamp the mail-in passports in a week as well. Yet, the letter says that they mail the passports back within 30 days if you mail it.
I hope 30 days is just a cautious time frame.
Now, there is nothing for us but hope for a timely return.

(in reply to: worring) Some people sent them fax several times in a raw with the explanation of their situations. They got PPs back very soon. Chances are that you will recieve your PP back on time with visa too.

(in reply to: worring) Thanks for the info, Olga.
I hope that will be the case. I am not sure if you were referring to my case (NY) or teme´s case (Buffalo), but either case it is comforting news.
Otherwise, I will need to reschedule my flight to europe and it will cost a fortune :)

(in reply to: worring) Buffalo still stamps visas on the same day if you go personally. You drop it off between 8 and 11 and you pick it up at 1:30. I did that this Tuesday (but I live near Buffalo so driving was an option for me). They were very efficient compared to other consulates I´ve been to.

(in reply to: worring) Oh and I forgot to mention that when I went Tuesday, they also had me fill out a little form with my address so that they can refund me the difference between the new landing fee and the old one (500 bucks), so that was good too.

(in reply to: worring) I got my passport today. The problem was with canada post not with buffalo.
Next step will be landing.

(in reply to: worring) Hi teme, what was wrong with canada post? I just sent my application package to mexico using them and is taking way longer to get there than they said it would. Hope they don´t screw it. Regards. Javier
